STRecruiting: South Carolina takes first step in free agency towards rebuilding the offensive line by reaching contract agreement with Carter Miller from UCF

South Carolina’s football front office struck its second deal with a free agent on Tuesday by reaching a contract agreement with former UCF OL Carter Miller (6-2 295), according to Pete Nakos. Miller had visited USC on Sunday. He’s the third free agent acquired by the Gamecocks this week. He’s a native of Fort Worth, TX, and this will be his third collegiate stop following Louisiana Tech and James Madison. He has started in 29 of his 36 career games.

REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2024, AT LOUISIANA MONROE)

  • Played in and started all 12 games at center for the Warhawks
  • Named Honorable-Mention All-Sun Belt in 2024

REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2023, AT JAMES MADISON)

  • Played in 11 games, making eight starts at left guard
  • Part of an offensive line that helped JMU rank top 30 in the FBS in six offensive categories, which included tied for sixth in passing touchdowns (36), 13th in pass efficiency rating (162.6), completion percentage (67.3%), 17th in yards per pass attempt (8.6), 20th in passing yards (284.8) and 23rd in scoring offense (34.1)
  • JMU offense led the Sun Belt in yards per pass attempt, passing touchdowns and pass efficiency
  • Also ranked second in both scoring and passing yards while coming in third in completion percentage, red-zone offense (84.7%) and time of possession (31:17)
  • JMU scored over 40 points in five games, all against FBS competition, including a JMU FBS-best 56 at Coastal Carolina to repeat as first-place finishers in Sun Belt East Division
