RB Amari Thomas of Blountstown, FL, who originally committed to Florida State in January only to flip his commitment to South Carolina on August 8th, reversed course again on Thursday and announced a new commitment to Florida State.
Thomas had maintained throughout his recruiting that even thought he was committed to one school or another, he was not shutting things down. In fact, he made multiple visits to Florida State as a Gamecock commitment.
Last summer, Thomas made official visits to USC, Kentucky and Florida State. He also had offers from Florida, Kansas State, Georgia Tech, NC State, Mississippi State, Illinois, Indiana, Virginia Tech and Louisville.
Thomas is regarded as one of the top running back prospects in the 2026 class. This season he has rushed for 1500 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Thomas was South Carolina’s lone running back commitment for the 2026 class and his departure leaves the Gamecocks with 14 commitments.
