It’s a new era in football at Allen University on two fronts. After climbing through the ranks of the NAIA and transitioning to NCAA D2, the Yellow Jackets in 2024 are now a full member of NCAA D2. And they have a new head coach in Cedric Pearl who replaced Teddy Keaton after he left for Clark Atlanta.
There’s also been a transition on the roster. The new coaching staff inherited just 24 players from last year’s seven win team. They have brought in 29 transfers thus far to supplement their high school recruiting class.
One of those returning is the school’s all-time leading rusher in Beau Herrington who has 1968 yards and a school record 27 touchdowns in his three seasons. Another key returnee is All-Conference safety Sharrod Simmon who had three interceptions and 11 pass break ups last season.
The Yellow Jackets will open their season against their former coach at Clark Atlanta September 7th.
