Talk about the proverbial big shoes to fill. New Benedict College coach Ron Dickerson Jr. is only replacing the most successful coach in school history. Chennis Berry is now the head coach at SC State. All he did in three seasons with the Tigers is win 22 out of 29 games including two conference championships and made two trips to the D2 Playoffs.
But Dickerson, a former wide receiver and track standout at Arkansas who played three seasons in the NFL pointed out that his feet are size 13.5, so he’s got pretty big shoes himself. That was his way of saying yes, the previous staff did a great job, but he is by no means intimidated by the situation he has taken over.
The Tigers will open their season September 1st against Virginia State in the Black College Hall of Fame Classic in Canton, OH. The game will be televised on NFL Network.
