- Ethan Lizama gave USC a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with a two-out RBI double to left. The Tigers would secure the next six runs.
- The Tigers jumped on USC starter Amp Phillips from the jump with a single and double putting runners on the corners. A ground out to second scored one run, and a single scored the second for a 2-1 lead.
- LSU followed up with three runs in the second on an RBI single and a two-run double for a 5-1 lead.
- The Tigers scored an unearned run in the fourth with the help of a throwing error on second baseman Patrick Evans on a fielder’s choice to make it 6-1.
- The Gamecocks got a runner to second in both the fourth and eighth innings but could not score either.
- USC went down in order in four of the final five innings. Tyler Bak did have a leadoff single in the sixth, but he was eliminated in a double play.
- The Gamecocks had six hits and struck out 11 times.
- Phillips pitched six innings and took the loss to fall to 3-6. He allowed six runs, five earned, and eight hits. He struck out three and walked four. Parker Marlatt worked the final two innings and did not allow a hit.

LSU 7-USC 3 Game Two Summary
- Just like in game one, USC took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Tyler Bak hit a one-out homer to left.
- LSU tied the game in the bottom of the third off off Brandon Stone with a one-out sacrifice fly, then took the lead in the fourth with another one-out sac fly.
- A leadoff walk was followed by a home run to give the Tigers a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth. Later in the inning against Gamecock reliever Logan Prisco, the Tigers added another run on a two-out RBI single to left.
- The Tigers added a solo homer off of Connor Chicoli in the seventh for a 6-1 lead, then capped their scoring in the eighth with an unearned run following a throwing error on shortstop KJ Scobey to open the inning. A double and a ground out to short scored the run off of reliever Hudson Lee.
- The Gamecocks scored a pair of ninth inning runs following a one-out error on the shortstop on a ground ball from Logan Sutter. Erik Parker then singled to third to put runners on the corners. Jake Randolph singled to right scoring Sutter with an unearned run, and Parker then scored on a passed ball.
- The Gamecocks managed only four hits off of two LSU pitchers and struck out 11 times. They were held hitless from the second inning through the seventh.
- Stone pitched into the fifth and took the loss to fall to 4-3. He allowed four runs on six hits and struck out one.
- The Gamecocks are now 22-26 overall and 7-16 in the SEC.
- With the doubleheader sweep today, LSU moves back ahead of South Carolina in the SEC standings. The Tigers are in 14th place, and the Gamecocks are in 15th. LSU will own the tiebreaker if needed.
