STRecruiting: Some major Monday night developments with South Carolina CB target Kelvin Millington

CB Kelvin Millington of Bogart, GA, did not make his scheduled official visit to Texas Tech last weekend, and his scheduled visit to Virginia Tech this coming weekend is also up in the air. Thus, South Carolina has been his only official visit to this point, and secondary coach Torrian Gray is trying to close the deal.

“I’m thinking about possibly shutting my recruitment down,” Millington said Monday night. “I don’t know. I’m doing some calls, talking to some people, still working my way through this. I don’t know yet. I’ve still got to make some calls and see where Virginia Tech’s at and where South Carolina’s at. I’m really down to two, and we’re going to see what happens from there.”

Millington had a FaceTime conversation with Gray on Monday night.

“They say I’m really high on the board. They really like me,” Millington said. “They’re always reaching out, always saying, ‘ We want you here, we want you here, like really welcoming.”

While Millington has a strong sense that USC is ready and willing to take a commitment, he doesn’t feel the same about Virginia Tech.

“They’re not as confirmed now that they got some more commits, so I’m waiting to hear back from them on where they’re at with all this,” he said. They just got a safety, I think, today, so that kind of shook things up. “We’re still kind of figuring that out.”

There’s also been a change in Millington’s commitment date. It was set for July 9th, but on Monday, he was invited to participate in the Nike Opening by 247Sports, and to make his commitment announcement live with them between June 25th and 27th. And at this point, he would call South Carolina his favorite.

“Most likely, yes, because I mean, they’re leading the pack,” Millington said. “They’re the only ones I’ve officially visited, so they’ve shown the most love. They’re just a great program. Really good things to say about them. A great feel and a great fit for me. So I would say they’re definitely lead in the race.”
