Clemson completed its linebacker take for the 2027 recruiting class on Friday with a commitment from RJ Hudson (6-2 205) of Richmond, VA. Hudson made an official visit to Clemson last weekend. He also made an official visit to Maryland.
Cincinnati, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, and Penn State were some others that were involved.
Clemson had other linebackers higher up on the board earlier in the recruiting season, but as those targets went elsewhere, the Tigers focused more of their attention on Hudson, who they offered on June 6th after seeing him perform in camp. He also made an unofficial visit to Clemson in April.
Hudson had been viewed as a defensive end, but Clemson worked him out at linebacker in camp this month, and that’s where the Tigers have penciled him in.
Last season, Hudson had 45 tackles with 13 sacks.
He is the third linebacker commitment for the class and the 23rd overall.
