South Carolina Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks coach Kendal Briles, on Monday, got a close-up look at QB Chandler Dyson (6-3 225) of Warner Robins, GA. Dyson apparently put on a strong performance because he left the Gamecock practice fields with an offer from Briles and Head Coach Shane Beamer.
“It came down to me by putting in the work and putting in the effort,” Dyson said a few hours following the offer. “They saw basically everything. They told me at the end of camp that I was offered by them. So it was great. It was good to get it.”
Dyson said prior to the camp, he had not had a lot of contact with the Gamecocks. They had seen him on film, but wanted to watch him throw in person.
“I think I did everything well. I’m very pleased with my performance at the camp,” Dyson said. “Made great throws, made great times during testing. Coach Briles said he likes the way I lead. He also said he likes how I place the ball in certain spots. He likes to launch it.”
So does Dyson. Last season, he passed for 2138 yards and 16 touchdowns. He can also run. He gained 536 yards and scored four times on the ground last season.
Dyson also has offers from Florida State, LSU, Nebraska, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Troy, UAB, and others.
Dyson said he will return to USC for a game this season.
