Five-star quarterback Ty Simpson of Martin, TN announced a commitment to Alabama Friday afternoon over Clemson and Tennessee. Martin cited the seven national championships Nick Saban has won, the school’s proximity to his hometown and the chance to play for Saban as primary reasons he chose Alabama.
Clemson had made Simpson its first priority at quarterback for the 2022 class. The Tigers then moved quickly on four-star QB Cade Klubnik (6-3 186) of Austin, TX offering him minutes after Simpson declared. Klubnik has been in communication with the Tigers for months. He said Friday morning he and his parents had a 35 minute Facetime session with Dabo Swinney Thursday night. He also spoke three times this week with quarterbacks coach Brandon Streeter, including last night. The Tigers, North Carolina, Texas and Florida have emerged as his favorites at this point. But Clemson seems to be in a strong place with him. “I love them a ton,” he said.
