South Carolina secondary coach Torrian Gray has a golden reputation when it comes to developing his players for the NFL. That’s a big plus for the Gamecocks as they pursue SAF Kennedy Green (6-2 195) of Douglasville, GA. Green has been a frequent visitor over the last two years, most recently for a spring practice on March 6th, and he’ll make his official visit this weekend, with the Gamecocks sitting high on his list.
“South Carolina has been recruiting me very hard. I could say they are a top two school for me,” Green said Monday night. “Going into this visit, I definitely want to see how they are going to fit me into their scheme. I definitely want to sit down with Coach (Clayton) White, with him being the defensive coordinator, and see what type of plans he’s got for me, along with Coach Gray, to see what type of plans they have for me. If I decide to go there, once I get there, how would they use me.”
Actually, from what he’s heard from Gray and White, Green already has a pretty good idea about that.
“They want to move me all around, kind of how they did Nick Emmanwori,” Green said. “They want to move me around like him. They had me study his tape a lot so that I could get a feel for everything he did and the multiple positions he played.”
Green has three official visits planned at this point, with South Carolina being the first, so the Gamecocks will go into this stage of his recruitment in a strong position.
“They are definitely top three,” Green said. “They are definitely up there as one of the favorites. There are still a couple of schools that are still recruiting me very hard, so going on these official visits, I definitely want to pinpoint things that separate one school from another.”
Green has an official visit to Mississippi State set for May 29th, and one to Nebraska on June 19th. He said he may set up one more before he announces his commitment on August 1st.
Green said on his visit to Columbia this weekend, he will be joined by his mother, sister, grandfather, and a cousin.
