South Carolina 6-Missouri 4 Game Summary

  • South Carolina had 11 hits on Saturday after combining for eight hits in the first two games. Gamecock pitchers allowed four hits on Saturday, and for the series they gave up 11 hits and five runs. Defensively, USC committed one error in the series, their first SEC sweep since 2024.
  • The Gamecocks took a 2-0 lead in the second on a two-run single to right field by Dawson Harman.
  • Harman then homered to right with one out in the fourth to give USC a 3-0 lead.
  • The Tigers got on the board in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run homer by former Gamecock Jase Woita.
  • More power from the Gamecocks in the sixth with KJ Scobey and Harman both launching solo homers to left for a 5-2 lead.
  • Insurance for the Gamecocks came in the top of the ninth when Will Craddock hit his eighth homer of the season, this one 436 feet, and the Gamecocks had a 6-2 lead.
  • The Tigers scored a pair of two out runs in the bottom of the ninth to pull to within 6-4, and had runners on second and third. But Alex Philpott, who had given up an RBI double, got a fly ball to right to end the game.
  • Harman, who just recently rejoined the team after being out with mono, had his best day as a Gamecock. He had three hits, two homers and four RBIs. Scobey also snapped out of a mild slump with three hits and a RBI.
  • Alex Valentin started on the mound for USC and allowed two runs on one hit while striking out five and walking one. Cooper Parks (3-1) followed with three scoreless innings, striking out one and walking two, to pick up the win. Connor Chicoli, Zach Russell and Philpott finished up with Philpott earning his third save.
  • The Gamecocks are 18-19 overall and 5-10 in the SEC. Under interim coach Monte Lee they are 6-8 overall and 5-6 in the SEC. The Gamecocks open a nine game homestand on Tuesday night against Davidson. Mississippi State will visit Columbia this weekend.
