STRecruiting Notebook 4-2: Coach responds to claims USC outbid others for Giwa; USC #1 with DE, final three for OL

Brandon Collier, coach/trainer of new South Carolina signee OL Neff Giwa, disputes claims that Giwa chose the Gamecocks because of some huge financial and NIL offer.  He posted on X: “Neff turned down significantly more from other contenders to sign at South Carolina because of the time he had with Coach Beamer and Coach Klemm, nothing about money was his reason for choosing the Gamecocks…. If yall only knew, this wasn’t even in the ball park of some others.”

DE Desmond Malpress (6-3 205) of Jacksonville told 247Sports South Carolina currently leads after a recent visit.  He’s also been to Georgia, Florida and Georgia Tech. He’s also high on Tech.  He also plans to visit Clemson, Syracuse and Florida State this spring.  He has official visits with USC May 1st, Georgia Tech May 29th, Syracuse June 5th, Alabama June 12th and Florida State June 19th.

OL Jaxon Elston of Oxford, AL has set June 20th for his commitment announcement with South Carolina, Arkansas and Georgia Tech the finalists. He visited all three this spring.  He has officials set with each, Arkansas May 29th, USC June 5th and Georgia Tech June 12th

South Carolina offered CB BJ Allen (6-2 180) of Atlanta. He set an official visit with Virginia Tech for May 29th. He also has officials set with Vanderbilt and Mississippi State. He committed to the Bulldogs last September.

OT Abraham Eisenhower (6-5 280) of Valdosta, BA visited South Carolina on Wednesday.

2028 LB Heyward Belser (6-2 210) of Heathwood Hall visited South Carolina on Wednesday.

OL Ronald Moore of Suwanee, GA visited South Carolina in Saturday.

DE Success Nwabude of Athens, GA visited South Carolina on Tuesday.

2028 LB PJ Moye (6-2 210) of Tallahassee visited South Carolina on Tuesday.

OL Clayton Lee of Callahan, FL set an official visit with South Carolina for June 12th.

South Carolina commitment WR Jaiden Kelly-Murray of Oceanside Collegiate was offered by Colorado.

South Carolina commitment CB Aamaury Fountain has set an official visit with Florida for May 28th.

South Carolina target WR Iveon Lewis was offered by Georgia.

South Carolina target RB Franklin Richardson of Sumter was offered by UConn.

South Carolina target DL Jesiah Fields was offered by West Virginia.

PK Moses Barker of Fuquay-Varina was back at Clemson on Wednesday. He also visited March 8th. He’s also made visits to Florida, Florida State, Miami, Arkansas, Duke and Appalachian State. He has offers from Army, Navy and Air Force.

Per TigerIllustrated, WR Dayon Cooper (6-0 170) of South Pittsburg, TN has set an official visit with Clemson for June 12th.  He also has an official set with Florida State for June 5th. He’s also been to Alabama, Vanderbilt, Louisville and Florida State this spring.

Clemson target WR Tae Walden plans to visit LSU this weekend.

South Carolina and Clemson target CB Davion Jones was offered by UCLA.

Woodruff RB Aiden Gibson was offered by Louisville.

Byrnes RB and soccer star Tre Segarra made a recent unofficial visit to Notre Dame, and he’s scheduled to visit Penn State this weekend. He’s also been to South Carolina and Clemson this spring. Segarra has official visits set with Indiana May 15th, Stanford May 22nd, Tennessee June 12th and USC June 19th. He has a non-recruiting conflict on May 29th, Clemson’s primary recruiting weekend, and might not take an official with the Tigers.

Irmo SAF Jamar Grissett has set an official visit with Appalachian State for June 4th.
