STRecruiting: With March Madness heating up, Clemson has advanced to the Final Four of Andrew Beard’s recruitment

Clemson’s recruiting momentum with its tailbacks has shifted this spring. Georgia prospect Andrew Beard (5-9, 197) is a prime example.

The 2027 target from Bogart was one of three running backs on campus for the Elite Retreat recently. Unlike Gary Walker, Beard has been on Clemson’s radar for some time, and the trip to campus served as a chance to maintain a relationship that’s steadily grown over the last several months. He was immediately impressed by the sense of closeness on campus and the feeling of synergy within the building that he likes.

“The thing that stood out to me is the family feeling on campus,” Beard said. “Everybody feels so connected and tight, and I love that about them.”

That sentiment has certainly grown over the last several months with CJ Spiller. And since the Tigers extended an offer, the pair have solidified their relationship, with Spiller’s legacy at Clemson playing a strong role within his recruitment.

“My relationship with Coach Spiller has grown a lot since receiving my offer,” he explained. “We talk all the time about football. It excites me that I could possibly be coached by someone who has done everything I dream of doing.”

The move to bring Chad Morris back into the fold has drawn plenty of intrigue with prospects, and it is safe to say Beard is a fan of how he could fit into the picture.

“It was great finally meeting Coach Morris after talking since he got there,” Beard said. “His offense is so versatile, and I love the way he incorporates the tight ends and running backs. I think the offense is really going to shock people next year.”

Currently, Beard has four finalists: Clemson, Florida, Tennessee, and Georgia. Each program has an official visit lined up, so the race in his recruitment comes down to who holds the pole position heading into this summer’s race. With regard to Clemson, Beard feels like he got what he needed out of his trip to the Upstate, with another massive visit on the horizon.

“I feel like I got a better knowledge of the culture and coach that Dabo really is,” the Georgian noted. “He loves his players and always wants the best for them. Clemson is very high for me after this visit, and I can’t wait to get back during the summer. I’m ready to see what the players think and experience a day in their lives.”
