STRecruiting: Two more quarterbacks go on the offer board inside the office of South Carolina OC/QB coach Kendal Briles

Kevin Verpaele

South Carolina quarterback coach Kendal Briles is still loading up his database with the names of quarterback prospects he likes. Tuesday, he offered two more that passed his scrutiny, and both are Floridians committed to other programs.

Logan Flaherty (6-2 195) is from Port Charlotte and has been committed to UCF since October 14th. He also has offers from Georgia Tech, Rutgers, Memphis, Syracuse, Boston College, Kentucky, Miami, Virginia Tech, USF, Illinois, Florida, Florida State, Texas Tech, Louisville and others.

Last season, Flaherty passed for 2636 yards with 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also rushed for 596 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Briles also offered Kevin Verpaele (6-2 200) of Merritt Island. He has been committed to Pitt since October 28th, but he is open to looking at other opportunities, and Briles has now given him one with USC.

“This is kind of a fresh relationship we have.  He’s known me for about a week now,” Verpaele said.  “Kind of watched my film and was super impressed.  Said I’ve got a good frame and stuff.  He said he likes how I’m an athletic quarterback, how I can get outside of the pocket and make plays out of the pocket.  He likes how I can take a hit and make someone miss.  He said he likes how I can still throw the ball with all those things.  Throw it down the field and place it.”

Verpaele said he had not given South Carolina much thought from a recruiting standpoint, but that’s changed now.

“I think it’s definitely something that will be in my mind,” Verpaele said.  “Just looking forward to continue building the relationship.”

Verpaele said he will visit South Carolina in early April as part of a trip that will also include Wake Forest and Virginia Tech. He also plans to make a spring visit to USF, which was his favorite program growing up. He has already been to Florida and Pitt this spring, and he has an official visit set with Pitt for May 29th.

Last season, Verpaele passed for 2714 yards and 27 touchdowns, and he rushed for 597 yards and four scores.
