South Carolina needs additional help at offensive tackle for the coming season with injuries cutting into the depth, and on Friday the Gamecocks were able to address that with a commitment from OT Ashton Mozone (6-5 305) of Iowa Western JC.
Mozone is a native of Graniteville and attended Midland Valley High School.
Mozone arrived in Columbia on Thursday with his parents for an official visit which concluded on Friday with a visit with Gamecock head coach Shane Beamer during which he made his commitment.
Mozone was at one point committed to Washington State. He made an official visit to Middle Tennessee State last week, and he is scheduled for an official visit to Sacramento State on March 11th.
Mozone also has offers from Kent State, Liberty, Texas State, Georgia State, Western Michigan, FIU, Boise State, Hawaii, Western Kentucky, Old Dominion, East Carolina and Louisiana-Monroe.
Mozone’s coach at Midland Valley, Brent Dorn, shared this scouting report on him:
“Great kid on the field. Great kid off the field. For somebody his size, and being able to run the way he does, his highly impressive. High motor kid. We ran a lot of counter gap scheme stuff, and he would be ramping up to get to that linebacker. It would be exciting every play. He’s one of those get it out the mud type kids. He puts everything he’s got into it. Very quick feet. Long arms. I think he could play any spot on the front. He picks up on stuff pretty quickly. That length and that ability to move the way he does is pretty impressive. I was talking with somebody the other day, and they thought he might be more of an interior guy, and potentially getting some center snaps. With his work ethic, he can play any of the spots.”
Mozone gives USC 42 newcomers for the 2026 roster including 11 offensive linemen.
