



Gamecocks 87 – Kentucky 64 Game Summary
- South Carolina shot 53% from the field and led ninth-seeded Kentucky for more than 37 minutes in an 87-64 victory in the SEC Tournament Quarterfinals in Greenville, Friday.
- The Gamecocks grabbed an early lead behind Joyce Edwards and Raven Johnson, who scored seven points, apiece in the first quarter.
- USC extended its lead to 19 by halftime thanks to Madina Okot’s first half double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds). Okot finished with 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for her 21st double-double on the season.
- The Gamecocks kept pouring it on in the second half, building the lead to 26 early in the fourth quarter before cruising to victory.
- Edwards was remarkably efficient, leading all scorers with 21 points on 8 of 12 shooting from the floor and 5 of 6 at the foul line.
- Tessa Johnson (15 points) and Ta’Niya Latson (11 points) also posted double figures in scoring. Latson also dished out a team-high six assists.
- USC knocked down 50% of its shots from beyond the arc with “Tournament Tessa” Johnson leading the way (3 of 4 3-pointers).
- South Carolina enjoyed a 46-24 advantage in points in the paint.
- The Gamecocks will face the winner of the LSU-Oklahoma in the Semifinals at 4:30 p.m., Saturday.
