STRecruiting Notebook 1-10: The Collins bros make it to Columbia late Friday night; Vols making move on Coleman; Gamecocks offer local linebacker who is son of former hoopster

DE Drew Collins of Arkansas State confirmed to us around 1:00 AM Saturday that he and his brother, DT Kelby Collins of Alabama, had arrived in Columbia around 11:00 PM for a visit with South Carolina. They have also visited Auburn, Mississippi State and Kentucky this week.

Tennessee has now grabbed two top defensive players from Penn State, who are close with South Carolina target DE Chaz Coleman, also of Penn State. Coleman visited Tennessee earlier in the week, and reportedly, Tennessee coaches plan to visit him on Saturday. (Brent Hubbs)

Arkansas free agent RB Rodney Hill (5-10 195) has agreed to terms with Coastal Carolina. He’s out of Statesboro, GA. Spent two seasons at Florida State and two at Arkansas. He’s rushed for 554 yards and four touchdowns in his career.

Citadel CB Bradlee Jones signed a contract with Rutgers, according to 247Sports. This season Jones had 53 tackles and broke up nine passes. He’s also fast, and is the SOCON champ in the 100 and 200 meters outdoors, and the 60 meters indoors.

Furman transfer TE Joshua Burrell is headed to Arkansas State.

Former South Carolina walk-on OL Mac Walters is headed to Appalachian State.

South Carolina offered Hammond LB Jackson Ross (6-3 215). He’s the son of former Gamecock basketball player David Ross. This season Ross had 122 tackles with 22 tackles for loss and eight sacks. He also has offers from Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Duke, Charlotte, Appalachian State, Wake Forest, Miami of Ohio, South Florida, and Liberty.

Tennessee RB coach was in on Friday for a visit with Byrnes RB Tre Segarra.

Clemson LB coach Ben Boulware Friday, made a visit to Powdersville to check in on LB Jayden Wertz.

South Carolina coaches Shane Beamer and Torrian Gray on Friday in to visit Joshua Dobson at Catawba Ridge.
