Talking Tuesday: Dabo Swinney previews Clemson’s opener with LSU in a matchup of Top 10 teams (AUDIO)

Dabo Swinney press conference previewing the LSU game

Some of Swinney’s key comments
  • Team has worked very hard and is ready to go, LSU is very talented and similar to his with elite QB play, very good skill and guys in the trenches.
  • On LSU personnel: “They’ve got dudes.” Said Brian Kelly feels he has the best defense he’s had there.
  • Clemson is in a good place from an injury standpoint going into the opener.
  • OG Walker Parks is back in practice and coming along.
  • Randall is the starting RB and has confidence in all the running backs behind him.
  • Has all the confidence in Elyjah Thurmon anywhere on the offensive line, he could start at four positions, he’s considered a starter whether or not he runs out with the first group Saturday.
  • Came out of camp with 12 guys in the secondary they felt good about with seven in a position to play a lot.
  • Terrell has another level he can get to, he’s still a developing player but has a lot of skills.
  • They’ve worked hard on field goal protection, Matt Luke has taken ownership of that, in practice they’ve demonstrated that will be a strength for them.
  • LSU LB Harold Perkins is a baller, they have to know where he is, they’ve moved him around and he’s always in the action.
  • They’ve had competition at punter, they’ve all been really good and they’ve all been OK, thinks they have the answer and just have to go play.
  • No punter has separated from the others at this point among the three, doesn’t mean they have been bad.
  • On being 3-7 in last ten games vs SEC teams, look at turnovers, critical mistakes, played some really good teams, have to give those teams credit, but overall, they’ve had good success vs SEC (15-10).
