STRecruiting: South Carolina DL coach Travian Robertson checks in across the border on a big defensive end

South Carolina defensive tackles coach Travian Robertson made a stop Wednesday in Harrells, NC, to meet up with DE Amir Moore (6-8 285). Moore said the two had about a 30-minute conversation that went very well, and he walked away with a better understanding of what Robertson is all about as a coach and a person.

“I got to know him a little bit more.  He was asking questions about my family, and I was telling him about my family, and got to know him a little bit more,” Moore said.  “I could tell that he’s a good coach, and he helps his players develop the way he was speaking to me.”

The Gamecocks offered Moore in March, and since then, he’s added several other major offers. Robertson made it clear to Moore that he’d love to have him as part of the defensive front with the Gamecocks. According to Moore, Robertson was direct in making his pitch.

“That’s the place for me, and I could do a lot of good things if I go there,” Moore said.   “They are up there.  I like them.  I like the school.  They are right there near me.  So, I’ve always liked South Carolina.”

Moore said he and Robertson have not yet talked about an official visit, but he would love to take one with the Gamecocks. He has set official visits to North Carolina on May 29th, Florida on June 5th, and NC State on June 12th. He is also looking at a possible visit with Georgia.

Moore said Florida was also in to see him this week.
