STRecruiting Notebook 6-12: Clemson and South Carolina land big hitters from WKU; DT sets OV to USC

Western Kentucky OF Ryan Wideman committed to Clemson. He’s the son of former Clemson basketball player Tom Wideman.  Wideman spent one season at Western Kentucky after two seasons in junior college.  This season he hit .398 with 10 home runs, 20 doubles and six triples.  He had 58 RBIs and stole 45 bases.

Western Kentucky OF Ethan Lizama committed to South Carolina. He spent two seasons at WKU after two seasons in juco. This season he batted. 336 with 15 homers, 18 doubles, and 60 RBIs.

1B Braeden Smith is transferring to the College of Charleston from Georgia College. In two seasons at Georgia College he had a career batting average of .367 with 18 homers, 38 doubles and 115 RBIs.

North Carolina OF Reece Holbrook is transferring to the College of Charleston to play for his dad. In 18 games this season, Holbrook batted .250 with three RBIs.

South Carolina is down for an official visit on Monday from DT T-Ron Richardson of Hopewell, VA, his coach said in a story for 247Sports. He will visit Penn State this weekend. He also has visited Syracuse and Oklahoma, and was to start an official visit to Maryland on Thursday. He has Virginia Tech scheduled for June 20th.

South Carolina commitment SAF J’Zavien Currence made a visit to Ohio State on Tuesday.

South Carolina offered 2027 OT Ronald Moore (6-5 290) of Suwanee, GA Wednesday while he was in for a camp. He also camped last summer with the Gamecocks, and he visited for a game last September. . He also has offers from Southern Miss, East Carolina and others.

South Carolina Wednesday offered 2027 OT Junior Saunders (6-6 270) of Woodberry Forest, VA following a camp performance. He also has offers from Southern Miss, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Syracuse, Florida State, Tennessee, Penn State, North Carolina, Pitt, Virginia Tech and NC State. Saunders also visited Clemson in March.

2027 OT Jordan Agbanoma (6-4 290) of Loganville, GA camped at South Carolina Wednesday.
