College World Series: CCU and Arizona are ready for a rematch in Omaha (AUDIO)

The last time CCU faced Arizona was for the 2016 National Championship (CCU Athletics)

Coastal Carolina and Arizona have a very brief baseball history. As a matter of fact, the two teams have met just three times. However, all three of those contests took place in Omaha, Nebraska during the 2016 College World Series. The Wildcats picked up a 3-0 victory over CCU in game one of the best-of-three championship series that year, but the Chanticleers rallied to post a 5-4 win in game two before the series finale was postponed a day due to the weather. When the series resumed on June 30, 2016, Coastal capitalized on two errors on the same play for four unearned runs in the sixth inning, to knock off Arizona 4-3 and claim the National Championship.

The two teams are set to meet again on Friday at 2pm ET, but this time, it’s in the opener of the CWS. So on Thursday, CCU head coach Kevin Schnall, along with catcher Caden Bodine and pitcher Jacob Morrison, met with the media to preview the matchup. Arizona arrived at the podium with head coach Chip Hale seated beside infielder Mason White and pitcher Tony Pluta.
