STRecruiting: Clinton OG Tre Aiken set with his four official visits, and those will help seal his commitment decision

It’s been a busy May thus far for Clinton OG Tre Aiken (6-4 305). Coming off a state championship season, he’s not easing up going into his senior season. He’s been hard at work in the weight room and on the field for spring practice this month.

He’s also had recruiters from Clemson, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech come in for school visits this week. He’s also expecting a visit in the near future from USC offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley. In the meantime, Aiken has been keeping in touch with Teasley.

“Just catching up with them.  Everything is set for the OV.  Not too much to really talk about,” Aiken said.  “They are just checking in on me, seeing how I’m doing, things of that nature. “I have a good relationship with them. It’s the same feeling as last time.  Everything is cool.  I’m just excited to be on these OVs and help me make my decision.”

Aiken’s first official visit will be to Georgia Tech on May 30th. NC State will be the next weekend followed by Virginia Tech and USC. The official visits will loom large in his decision-making process, and he will go into them without a favorite.

“Definitely open minded,” he said.  “I want to give everybody a chance.  I haven’t really made my mind up yet. It’s been a difficult process.  I’m not a big decision maker.  This is one of the most important decisions of my life.  I’m trying to take my time and get it right. They are actually all pushing equal, none is pushing harder than the other one. They are all telling me I’m a priority.  That’s the number one thing.  I want to be a priority to them the same way they want to be a priority to me.”

The biggest factor for judging the programs on the official visits, Aiken said, is how comfortable he feels around the coaches and the players.

“I’m looking to see if I fit in,” Aiken said.  “Is it my type of school?  Can I fit in in the locker room?  What is the education like?  I want to make sure I can graduate and get my degree.  It factors in a lot of things.”

Aiken visited each of the four finalists during the spring. He hit up USC, Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech in March, and he stopped by NC State in early April.

Last season Aiken graded out at 92% with 80 knockdown blocks.
