The aftermath of the Clemson Elite Retreat Saturday continued in a positive way Monday afternoon with another commitment announced. After five commitments from the offensive side of the ball, the Tigers have their first defensive commitment from the weekend in CB Marcell Gipson (5-11 170) of Dallas.
Gipson chose the Tigers from a offer list that also included SMU, Kansas State, Maryland, Georgia Tech, Washington, Washington State, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Memphis and Vanderbilt.
Saturda’y’s visit by Gipson was his first to Clemson and he picked up the offer while on campus.
His father played cornerback at Wyoming and his uncle is former NFL All-Pro safety Tashaun Gipson. He has been part of a program that has played in four straight state championship games. He’s also a track athlete.
On3 and 247Sports both projected Gipson to Clemson after he received his offer. He’s the 11th commitment for the Tigers’ 2026 class.
