Oklahoma 15-The Citadel 5 Game Summary

  • The Sooners scored 12 runs combined in the third and fourth innings to pull away from the Bulldogs.
  • Oklahoma led 1-0 going to the third, then loaded the bases with two walks and a bunt. Another walk and a pair of two-run singles off of Bryce Coulter (2-3) made it a 6-0 game.
  • The Sooners followed up that big inning with an even bigger one in the fourth off two Bulldog relievers. They again loaded the bases with no one out and followed with an RBI single, a bases-loaded walk, a two-run double, and another walk before the first out of the inning was recorded. Two RBI groundouts and an RBI single closed out the scoring for a 13-0 lead.
  • Christian Stratis got the Bulldogs on the board with a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth, but the Sooners answered that with two runs in the top of the fifth.
  • Stratis had a two-run single for The Citadel in the sixth, and the Bulldogs added one final run on a Phillips Daniels single in the seventh.
  • The Bulldogs, who won the Southern Conference Tournament championship to qualify for the regional, finish the season with a 36-26 record, their highest win total since winning 43 games in 2010.
