STRecruiting: Clemson adds a second commitment on Friday with DE Santana Harvey joining the party

Clemson Friday night broke through at the defensive end position for the 2027 commitment class with Santana Harvey (6-5 225) of Lakeland, FL. Harvey is one of six defensive ends making official visits to Clemson this weekend, and he’s the first at his position to commit to the Tigers.

Harvey chose the Tigers over Florida State, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, and Notre Dame. He had each scheduled for an official visit. His short list also included SMU, Georgia, Texas A&M, Michigan State, and Oklahoma.

Clemson defensive ends coach Chris Rumph developed a strong relationship with Harvey, first taking notice of him in early 2025, then in a camp last summer, and then following up by having him in for a game last season and for a recruiting event in early March.

“My relationship with Clemson is great, but what has me very interested in them is the coaches and how they make me feel like family,” Harvey said last week. “Also, the defense and just the production and the development. There’s also the academics and the different opportunities that are maximized at Clemson.”

Over the last two seasons, Harvey has 20 sacks and 36.5 tackles for loss.

“They say I’m a very fast, physical player,” Harvey said. “They said I’m a good pass rusher with good pass rusher moves, as well as playing the run game. They said I’m a great fit for Clemson football. Our relationship is great. I’ve known Coach Rumph for over a year. I met him last January (2025), coming out of my sophomore year, and ever since then, it’s just been a great relationship, as well as with Coach (Tom) Allen. I met Coach Allen when I visited Clemson in the summer, and then my relationship with him just built up over time.”

Harvey is the 15th commitment for the Tigers’ 2027 class and the second from the state of Florida.
