Clemson began its major recruiting weekend of the summer on a positive note with a commitment from WR Julian Cromartie (6-4 200) of The Woodlands, TX. Cromartie is the son of former Florida State and NFL defensive back Antonio Cromartie.
Clemson started its pursuit of Cromartie this spring, with both Chad Morris and receivers coach Tyler Grisham traveling to Texas for an in-person visit. Cromartie had not visited Clemson prior to Friday, so following the Dabo Swinney policy, he was not officially offered until making a campus visit.
Cromartie is the third receiver commitment for the Tigers, and the tallest by several inches. He’s coming off a season of 42 catches for 823 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Cromartie took an official visit to Kansas earlier in the month, and he had one scheduled for Kentucky next weekend. Some of his other offers included NC State, Cincinnati, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Texas, Michigan, Georgia, Baylor, Washington, Boston College and Florida State.
The Tigers now have 14 commitments for their 2027 class.
