With 13 commitments on the books for the 2027 recruiting class, Clemson has addressed nine different position groups. The two groups they haven’t added to thus far are defensive end and specialist. They will address those spots this weekend.
The Tigers have six defensive ends scheduled for official visits and one specialist. And the specialist, Brandin Gallaway (6-4 195) of Bradenton, FL, can handle both placekicking and punting.
Clemson special teams coaches Rich Bisaccia and Tom Allen Jr. offered Gallaway in April, and the Tigers are one of the four programs he’s considering among nearly 30 offers as he begins his official visits.
“I really love Clemson. They really give the vibe of a family, a family atmosphere, and like they definitely want your family to be around,” Gallaway said. “They always reach out, stay in touch with me. I have a good relationship with the coaches. So honestly, I think that’s the main part. And then the decision is going to be on July 4th. So that’s what I’m going to stick to as of right now. That’s why I’m taking an OV here, because obviously, it’s somewhere I could definitely see myself.”
After his official visit to Clemson, Gallaway has official visits planned with Auburn, Tennessee, and West Virginia. He’s also looking at getting back to Florida for a workout with the Gators.
Gallaway said he’s getting strong interest from all four schools, and the Tigers have been as consistent in their recruiting efforts as any of them.
“They’re showing really great interest. Honestly, Coach Allen, he’s been reaching out a lot,” he said. And then with Coach Bisaccia, I really like him as a coach. I don’t think it gets any better with the coaching deal because he’s been in the NFL for a really long time. He’s got that experience. And then relationship-wise, I definitely want to keep building that relationship. And, he seems like a great guy.”
As he makes his rounds over the next three weekends, Gallaway said he’ll be looking for that one place that will make him feel the most comfortable.
“Just the family aspect of it, like it just has to feel like home,” Gallaway said. And, the relationship between me and the coach, that’s a big deal for me because this is where I’m going to be living for the next three to four years. So, it’s just got to feel like home. I’d say they’re all pretty equal. That’s why I’m going on the OVs. After they’re all done, that’s when I have the time to make my mind up and think about all of it.”
In January, Gallaway was ranked the #1 punter and the #3 placekicker in the country. During his spring practice in April, he nailed a field goal from 63 yards.
