STRecruiting: Clemson lands another big one for the offensive line in JJ Brown of Georgia

JJ Brown

Clemson landed its second commitment from the weekend of official visits as OL JJ Brown (6-6 305) of Lilburn, GA, announced a commitment to the Tigers on Monday night. He chose Clemson over other finalists Georgia, Auburn, Florida State, and Florida.

He is the third offensive lineman taken by OL coach Matt Luke, and 17th overall commitment for Dabo Swinney’s 2027 class.

“The reasons why I committed to Clemson, number one, is the culture,” Brown said. “The culture is different up there because Coach Swinney really cares about his players long after their playing days. It doesn’t matter if they were a starter or if they were a walk-on. He’s still going to treat you the same. He’s still going to care for you the same. And not a lot of places get that. And then the second thing is probably the development by Coach Luke. He has the most NFL draft picks out of any other active coach right now. Coach Luke just had Blake Miller go in the first round, and just had Monroe Freeling (Georgia) go in the first round. He said I can be one of the next first-rounders to come out of Clemson.  I want to learn the game more than I already do, and I just feel like he can take me to the next level, just his expertise and just his background. I feel like he can take me there, and ultimately, that led to my decision.”

Brown added that commitment to Clemson fulfills a longtime goal of his.

“Clemson was really my childhood school growing up,” Brown said. “Now I get a chance to put on that orange and purple every time I go out there and play in Death Valley. Just hitting that Howard’s Rock and getting a chance to go down that hill is special to me.”
