One of the nation’s top junior college defensive line prospects, Kelten Mickell (6-2 295) of Jones JC, MS said Sunday night he has his decision down to South Carolina and Georgia and has dates for official visits with each.
Mickell has been in regular contact with USC defensive line coach Travian Robertson and the two have set an official visit for the weekend of the Ole Miss game.
“He’s just been recruiting me and talking about getting me up there and letting me see the place and hopefully I’ll make that my home,” Mickell said. “I ain’t going to lie, they look pretty good, especially up-front wise.”
Mickell said in talking with Robertson and watching the Gamecocks in action, there is good reason for him to choose them over the Bulldogs.
“It’s somewhere that I can see myself playing and getting to the league,” Mickell said. “Coaches that can develop me.”
But he also knows there are good reasons to pick Georgia where he has set an official visit for November 16th.
“All the D-line products that they produce,” Mickell said. “Me being in JUCO and trying to get a fresh, new start in a four year (program).”
With all that being said, Mickell indicated the decision will come down to nothing related to depth charts and championships.
“Really just based off who really wants me more and whoever showing love the most,” Mickell said. “Both of them are showing love. It’s kind of hard to pick.”
Last season Mickell had 34 tackles with three tackles for loss and one sack. Through four games this season he has 12 tackles with two tackles for loss and one sack.
Deciding by who wants him the most and shows the most love is just saying whoever has the best NIL bag gets gim
