#Gamecocks Camp 2024: Bam Martin-Scott on the mend, promises “I’ll be back soon!” (AUDIO)

The South Carolina Gamecocks are gearing up for the upcoming season, but they’re currently without a key defensive player. Bam Martin-Scott, a veteran linebacker entering his fourth year with the team, had a strong finish to last season and was poised to carry that momentum forward.

Martin-Scott excelled last year after the defense shifted to a 3-3-5 formation, where he delivered some of his best performances in a Gamecock uniform. His hard work didn’t go unnoticed, earning him the 2024 Most Improved Player of the Spring award.

However, as fall camp began, Martin-Scott was sidelined with a hamstring injury. Although the injury is not expected to keep him out of the lineup for the season opener against Old Dominion on August 31st, it has temporarily kept him out of full practice.

“I’m dealing with a minor hamstring issue right now, but I’ll be back soon,” Martin-Scott said. “I was pushing myself too hard during some extra work, and it caught up with me.”

While he focuses on recovering, the injury opens the door for other players to step up in his absence. Still, it likely won’t be long before the experienced linebacker returns to the field, ready to make an impact.
