#STRecruiting: Georgia LB has #Gamecocks among his favorites

AJ Holloway

Buford, GA is definitely one of the football recruiting hotspots in Georgia. This season, one of the major attractions will be LB AJ Holloway (6-3 225). Holloway plays all over the field, evident by his 145 total tackles last season.

USC defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Clayton White had Holloway visit Saturday for the Gamecocks’ first spring practice in pads, and that visit left an impression. So much so, Holloway has set an official visit with the Gamecocks.

“That was one of the first practices I’m going to.  I’d visited South Carolina a couple of times before, but I really got to see how practice is, how the coaches are during practice and all that,” Holloway said.  “I got to sit down in a meeting with Coach White.  He has coached good linebackers, and I got a feel for how he coaches.”

“I enjoyed watching how he coaches linebackers and such in the individual drills and all that,” Holloway continued. “Even during practice and on the field, they move around a lot.  He talked to me about that.  Based on whoever is in the game or whatever is going on, he said I’ll probably move around a lot.  I play middle, I play edge and I play outside.  I can do all that.”

Holloway also visited USC for a junior day in January. He was also in for a game in his ninth-grade year. The Gamecocks are going to be a factor with him moving forward.

“I love the way South Carolina is going right now,” he said.  “Just from seeing what was going on Saturday, they are going to be really great.  Saturday was the first day in pads and I was watching them hit.  They are doing something.  They are definitely building. They are definitely in my top schools I would say.  I would say South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Louisville, Tennessee, Duke, Auburn and Kansas.”

Holloway has also visited Georgia Tech and Florida this year. In April he has stops scheduled with Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Tennessee and North Carolina. He is also planning to return to USC for the spring game April 20th.

Holloway has three official visits planned. He will be at Louisville May 31st, USC June 7th, Georgia Tech June 14th and Kansas June 21st. He plans to take an official visit to Auburn during the football season.
