#Gamecocks QB Spencer Rattler announces for NFL Draft

The two-year career of quarterback Spencer Rattler at USC is over. Rattler Wednesday afternoon announced on social media that he will enter the NFL Draft and not return to college football for another season. Rattler had already accepted an invitation to play in the Senior Bowl, but he still had another season of college eligibility if he wanted to use it.

Rattler leaves USC as one of the most prolific passers in school history. This season he passed for 3186 yards and 19 touchdowns. He completed 69% of his attempts with just eight interceptions. At Williams-Brice Stadium, Rattler passed for 2015 yards and 17 touchdowns with four interceptions. He completed 74% of his passes at home.

In 2022 after transferring from Oklahoma, Rattler passed for 3026 yards, 18 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He completed 66% of his attempts. So, in his two seasons with the Gamecocks, and with two different offensive coordinators and quarterback coaches, Rattler passed for 6212 yards, 37 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.

Rattler’s two seasons with USC rank as the 3rd and 7th best passing seasons in the program’s history. He leaves as the school’s fifth all-time leading passer. And counting his years at Oklahoma, Rattler finished his college career ranked 97th all-time with 10,807 passing yards. He threw 77 touchdown passes with 32 interceptions. He completed 68.5% of his attempts in his career.
