
One of the state’s biggest names in college football, Coastal Carolina quarterback Grayson McCall, is moving on. After suffering head and neck injuries and a concussion in the October 21st win at Arkansas State, in which he left the field on a stretcher and spent the night in a hospital, McCall didn’t play the rest of the season. And now, he’s taken his last snap with the Chants. McCall announced Wednesday afternoon he would be transferring for his final season of college football. He leaves Conway as the most prolific quarterback in Coastal history with 10,005 passing yards, 88 touchdowns and only 14 interceptions. He completed 69.9% of his passes and had a career QB rating of 178.4 His announcement follows that of Coastal QB Jarrett Guest who served as McCall’s backup.
Clemson offensuve guard Mitchell Mayes (6-3 305) also announced Wednesday he will be entering the Transfer Portal. Mayes played in 32 games in his career starting nine. He started five games in the middle of this season at right guard, then he lost his starting job and did not regain it.
Clemson Wednesday offered OT Alan Herron (6-6 315) who is a transfer prospect from Shorter University, a Division Two program in Rome, GA. Herron also picked up offers Wednesday from NC State and Penn State. Other offers have come in from UCF, Boston College, Arkansas State, Marshall, Kansas, Louisville, Maryland, Texas Tech, Virginia Tech, Houston, Charlotte and Westen Kentucky. He reportedly has set an official visit to Virginia Tech. He’s a native of Jamaica who played two seasons at Shorter.
USC offered UTEP transfer OG Justin Mayers (6-3 310). He’s a native of Frisco, TX. He’s also picked up offers from Boston College, Houston, Tulsa, Mississippi State, North Texas, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, South Florida and Colorado.
USC is one of the programs to show interest in WR Kris Mitchell (6-1 175) of FIU who announced transfer plans Tuesday. In 38 games for the Panthers, he caught 100 passes for 1663 yards and 12 touchdowns. This season he caught 64 passes for 1118 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Brad Crawford of 247Sports reported USC would be the frontrunner for Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson if he decides to transfer. On3 and 247Sports reported Jefferson planned to transfer, then Jefferson posted on X that he had not made a decision on his plans.
Coastal Carolina RB CJ Beasley is transferring, and USC is showing some interest in him. In his career he rushed for 1070 yards and 8 touchdowns and caught 34 passes for 344 yards and 1 touchdown.
Former Clemson receiver Frank Ladson is transferring from Miami.
Former Carolina Forest QB Mason Garcia is transferring from East Carolina.
Georgia State RB KZ Adams, a product of Gray Collegiate in Columbia, is transferring.
2026 QB Bryson Riggins (5-10 160) of Seale, AL made a game visit to USC earlier this month and has been in touch with recruiter Jody Wright. That was his first visit with the Gamecocks, and they have invited him to throw in camp this summer. He also visited for games this season Clemson, Florida State, Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech and Troy. Clemson also wants him to come in for camp this summer. This season Riggins passed for 2067 yards and 25 touchdowns. He has not picked up any offers at this point.
