Clemson pitchers struck out 17 College of Charleston Cougars en route to a 2-1 victory at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, Tuesday. The Tigers mustered just two runs, but it was just enough offense for RHP Billy Barlow and four relievers to scratch out Clemson’s fourth straight win. Caden Grice continued his tear, driving in both runs on a homer to left in the third inning. Cooper Ingle rapped out three of the Tigers’ five hits.
Barlow exited with one out in the fifth after striking out seven and giving up just one run. Jackson Lindley, Geoffrey Gilbert, Alex Edmondson and Ryan Ammons slammed the door shut on the Cougars, allowing just five baserunners over the final 4 and 2/3 innings. Edmondson stranded the potential tying run in the eighth before Ammons struck out the side in the ninth.
Clemson will next play host to Hartford for a three-game series starting Friday at 4 p.m.
