#STRecruiting: Delp updates plans for last week of July

TE Oscar Delp perhaps is the recruit most desired by Clemson and USC fans

The current recruiting dead period is over in a week. Starting July 25th, prospects will have thru the end of the month to visit schools again until another dead period starts August 1st. Four-star TE Oscar Delp of Cumming, GA, who took an unofficial visit to Clemson in early June and an official visit to USC in late June, had planned to see both again next week. Now, he might not see either.

Delp said Sunday night the Clemson barbeque event is still a possibility for him. If he and his family are in town that weekend, he plans to attend. But it’s possible they will be away. As for the USC cookout July 31st, Delp said Georgia is having a gathering of top prospects the same day, and since both are high on his list, he feels it’s unfair to go to one and not the other, so he won’t go to either.

Delp also said his communication with the staffs of Clemson and USC remains hot.

“They’ve just been calling me and checking in on me and just being in my ear and letting me know that I’m the guy they want, and they are going to give me all the time I need,” Delp said of the Tigers. And about the Gamecocks, Delp said, “I’ve been talking to their coaches all the time. Their fans are crazy.  They really want me to come over there.  Waiting for the next step which is to get out for some games.”

In June, Delp also took official visits to Georgia, Florida and Michigan, and unofficial visit to Alabama. He’s had a top thirteen list he’s not trimmed, but he has said USC, Clemson, Michigan and Alabama are standing out the most to him.

Earlier this month Delp was able to show off his skills again at The Opening. He said that was quite the experience.

“I was playing with the top kids in the country and getting coached by the top players and coaches in the NFL,” Delp said.  “Cade Klubnik (Clemson commit) really impressed me.  So did Walker Howard, the LSU quarterback and Nick Evers, the Florida quarterback.”

And how much was Klubnik in Delp’s ear about joining him at Clemson?

“He was in there a good amount letting me know all the time that I’m wanted there, and we could be a duo,” Delp said.

Because he wants to take in some games this fall before making a decision, Delp doesn’t plan to finalize anything until sometime in September. That could happen on his mom’s birthday, September 30th, or, he said, it could come earlier in the month. He has not yet decided which games he’ll attend in the opening month of the season.
