Clemson nabbed its second highly rated prospect from IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL Saturday afternoon when four-star CB Daylen Everette (6-2 180) of Norfolk, VA announced a commitment to the Tigers over North Carolina and Georgia. His announcement followed by about an hour a commitment to Clemson announced by SAF Keon Sabb.
For much of June and July, North Carolina looked like the destination for Everette. He took both an unofficial visit and an official visit to Chapel Hill in June. He built a close relationship with recruiter Dre Bly. It’s also the closest of his favorites to his home, and his brother plays at Elon, not far down I-85 from Chapel Hill.
Everette also took official visits in June to Georgia and Florida State, and he made an unofficial visit to Clemson June 8th. He was quoted about Clemson as saying he liked the family atmosphere, and he had good feelings for Venables and corners coach Mike Reed. Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney also did his part with a lengthy conversation with Everette earlier in the week.
“It’s a national championship team, prestigious program athletically and academically,” Everette said following his announcement on CBS Sports HQ. “They are getting a real player, versatile and a leader on and off the field. I can play anywhere.”
In the 247Sports Composite, Everette is ranked 37th nationally in the 2022 class and the #7 cornerback. In his sophomore season in Norfolk, he intercepted 11 passes. He transferred to IMG for his junior season and worked his way into a starting role for a team that finished 8-0. According to MaxPreps, Everette played in 5 games and recorded 8 tackles, 1 pass deflection, 1 caused fumble and 1 fumble recovery.
Everette gives the Tigers 10 commitments for the 2022 class. Each is rated a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite and ranked among the top 200 players nationally in the class except for 3-star PK Robert Gunn. Clemson’s class jumped to #13 in the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings with the two commitments on Saturday.
