#STRecruiting: North Carolina DE Hall building a relationship with the #Gamecocks

Eli Hall

Strongside DE Eli Hall (6-4 259)) of Crest High School in Shelby, NC is not someone with whom you’d like to play poker. Coming off his team’s spring campaign, Hall is not close to tipping his hand. “I was going to do a top 10 (of schools), but I’m not,’ Hall said. “My family was like, just keep it in the family with us.  When I commit, you’ll see my top.  I’ll probably have three or four.”

USC defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey is his primary recruiter for the Gamecocks, and Hall notes that Lindsey’s coaching style has caught his eye.

“Me and coach Lindsey talk back-and-forth almost everyday,” Hall said. “He is telling me that its the SEC and you’ve got to come play.  He’s very hard as a coach.  I realized that watching some of the videos they put out, and he was mic’d up.  I like him, he’s pretty cool.”

With the coaching change following a 2-8 campaign, Hall is comfortable with USC but wants to evaluate the Gamecocks on the field.

“I feel pretty good.  I like the system,” he said. “I’d like to see how they play this year.”

The state of North Carolina played its football this spring, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Hall’s Crest Chargers were bounced in the 3-A state playoffs by Charlotte Catholic, but the junior feels it was still a great experience.

“I had a decent amount of sacks, but I’m not sure (on a number) though,” Hall said. “I took advantage of the opportunity.”

Hall has scheduled two official visits for June. He plans to attend Virginia the weekend of June 11th, and will take a trip to Minnesota the 18th through the 21st. As far as USC is concerned, he and Coach Lindsey are working through the details.

“He says I’m close, might need to do an unofficial, before I do an official,” Hall said. “I’m thinking during the season, like September-ish.”

Hall is a four-star recruit, according to the 247 Sports Composite. He plans on committing in October.

Other Notes:

  • USC target LB Stone Blanton, also a baseball prospect, was offered by Auburn. He has been committed to Mississippi State for baseball. He has an official visit to USC June 11th.
  • USC target DE Tomiwa Durojaiye of Middletown, DE plans to name a short list May 28th. USC figures to be on that list.
