Coastal Carolina scored the greatest win in school history Saturday night with a 22-17 upset of 8th ranked BYU in Conway, and they did it with perhaps the greatest defensive play in school history. Protecting their five point lead in the final seconds, the Chants played very soft coverage to keep the Cougars’ receivers in front of them. On the game’s final play. Mateo Sudipo tackled BYU receiver Max Milne at the one yard line to preserve the victory.
The win is the first for Coastal over a top 10 FBS program and the second this season over a ranked team. The Chants are 10-0 and could crack the top 10 in this week’s polls. They will play their regular season finale at Troy next Saturday. And they will face Louisiana in the Sun Belt Championship Game in two weeks.
