Former USC OL commitment Javion Cohen of Pell City, AL made an official visit back to Columbia over the weekend, his first visit since decommitting April 15th. Cohen’s decision to decommit was based on his desire to expand his recruiting and go thru the process more. He has kept an open mind regarding the Gamecocks and they have also kept him high up on their board. He said that was evident by what he experienced on the visit.
“It was a great visit,” Cohen said. “The atmosphere still feels great. Everybody around here still treat me the same. They were saying it doesn’t get no better than Wolf (OL coach Eric Wolford). They are really serious about that. I feel the same way. It don’t get no better than Wolf. It was great visit.”
This was Cohen’s second visit to USC this year. He also was in for a junior day in January. He said this visit gave him an entirely different look at things.
“I seen everybody relaxed, a lot more relaxed,” he said. “The scavenger hunt we had, and my family came up as well and I seen how they are around everybody. I seen a lot more of the coaches and everything. We actually watched some film today. I seen a lot more stuff than the previous trips.”
The talk of recommitting did come up as you might expect. Cohen listened but another decision is not something he’s ready to make right now.
“They told me my decision is my decision,” Cohen said. “They are just going to wait it out and see how everything goes. They are still up there in my top three.”
He said he won’t name his other favorites until sometime in May. This coming weekend Cohen plans to visit Auburn. He also plans to visit Florida and Florida State in May and he is planning an official visit to Oklahoma. He said he won’t announce a decision until Signing Day in December.
