South Carolina 85-Ole Miss 48 Game Summary

  • South Carolina used the middle twenty minutes to put the Rebels away. After leading 21-16 after the first quarter, the Gamecocks outscored Ole Miss 46-18 over the next two quarters to take a 32 points lead into the fourth quarter.
  • USC held Ole Miss to 3-14 shooting in the second quarter, and 3-20 in the third quarter, while also forcing ten turnovers. Meantime, the Gamecocks were 18-38 combined in quarters two and three.
  • The Gamecocks closed out the first half with an 11-4 run to lead 41-25 at the break. They opened the third quarter with a 15-3 run to settle the issue.
  • USC shot 49% from the floor and made all 13 free throw attempts. The Gamecocks scored 25 points off of 15 Ole Miss turnovers, and outscored the Rebels 44-24 in the paint.
  • Joyce Edwards led USC in scoring with 21 points. Madina Okot had her 18th double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
  • The win as the Gamecocks’ 21st straight over Ole Miss and 54th straight at home against an SEC opponent. Their overall home winning streak is now at 19, and their current winning streak on the season is now eight, all in SEC games.
  • USC is now 27-2 overall and 13-1 in the SEC. The Gamecocks clinched at least a share of their fifth straight SEC regular season championship, and their 10th overall. They also clinched the top seed for the upcoming SEC Women’s Tournament in Greenville. They will next host Missouri on Thursday night for their final home game.
