Clemson 7 — Bryant 5 (Game Summary)
- The game was a classic case of anything you can do, we can do better, as both teams traded haymakers all afternoon beginning with the first round.
- The Bulldogs grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first thanks to a two-run home run from third baseman Ellis Garcia. The Tigers responded five batters later as Nate Savoie lofted his 3rd HR of the season over the left field fence to tie the game at 2-2
- The pitching staffs took over from there, with each throwing goose eggs up on the board from the second through the fourth innings
- In the fifth, it was time to match home runs again. First, shortstop Justin Hackett, who entered the game just 1-of-10 from the plate, smashed his first long ball of the season to center field to give Bryant a 3-2 lead. In the bottom of the frame, Tryston McCladdie answered with a 2-run shot to right center field, giving the Tigers a 4-3 advantage
- Jacob Jarrell got his only hit of the afternoon in the sixth, but it was a big one. His RBI double gave Clemson a 5-3 lead heading to the 7th
- Bryant wasn’t done though, plating an unearned run in the top of the 8th, before the Tigers countered with a pair of run-scoring doubles in the home half of the frame
- The Bulldogs threatened again in the 9th, scoring a run on a ground-out, but with two men aboard, Joe Allen finished off the sweep by striking out Brandyn Durand to end the game
- Drew Titsworth (1-0) earned the win in relief, as he allowed one run on one hit with three strikeouts in 2.0 innings pitched. Allen pitched 1.2 innings to record his first save. Ty Davis (1-1) suffered the loss.
- The Tigers wrap up an 8-game home stand against Presbyterian on Tuesday before next weekend’s three-game series against USC begins on Friday in Columbia
