Key Comments from Clemson’s Press Conference
- Dabo on the Ole Miss situation: We turned everything in to the NCAA. There’s tampering, and then there’s blatant tampering. If there are no consequences for tampering, then we have no rules and no governance. I feel sorry for the young man. I blame the adults. I stay in my lane most of the time. But I am not going to let someone just flat out tamper with my program. If you tamper with my players, I’m going to turn you in.
- “This shouldn’t be a three-month investigation. This should probably take three days. Either they are going to tell the truth, or they’re going to lie. I’m not trying to get anyone fired. If this happened in the NFL, a league with actual rules, they would be fined.”
- “This is like having an affair on your honeymoon.”
- Clemson AD Graham Neff: “Look, it’s college sports. There will always be bad actors. We need to look really hard as to how we got here and how we can get out of it. We’re part of the problem, so we must be part of the solution.”
- More Dabo: “It’s remarkably sad to see where we are in college football. Three of the worst issues in our game are all happening for the same reason. Our current calendar is just stupid. It’s just stupid.”
- Swinney wants to move the portal window to the tail-end of February into the first week of March. “News flash, not everybody is going into the portal willingly.”
- “I don’t know of another sport that doesn’t protect its postseason.”
