- Elijah Strong singlehandedly staked the Gamecocks to a quick 11-0 lead with three-threes and a deuce within the first 2:30, and the Gamecocks never trailed.
- The Gamecocks pushed the first half lead to 14 points with 7:46 left, and then the Sooners got their offense going and outscored USC 22-11 the rest of the way to make it a 39-36 game at the half.
- After starting 9-15 from the floor to start the game, the Gamecocks finished 6-17 in the half, while the Sooners hit nine of their last 11 field goal attempts, including three from distance.
- South Carolina got the lead back to ten in the first five minutes of the second half, and it was 11 after a Meechie Johnson three with 10:24 to play. The Sooners got as close as five points on three different occasions, the last time with :11 remaining. Johnson finished it off by going 4-4 from the line.
- The Gamecocks had their most balanced offensive showing of the season with five in double figures. Johnson scored 18 of his team high 20 points in the second half, with 11 of those points coming from the line.
- Kobe Knox had a big second half as well going 4-4 from the floor and finishing with 18 points. After his quick start, Strong finished with 17 points.
- The Gamecocks were 9-20 from three, and the Sooners were 5-27 and missed their final ten attempts from deep.
- The Gamecocks, with their first SEC home win in three tries, are now 11-8 overall and 2-4 in the SEC. They will play at Texas A&M on Saturday.
