Shane Beamer and company aren’t quite done with the free agent market, and this time USC tapped one of its own. On Monday, former Gamecock walk-on wide receiver DJ Black (6-3 195) signed a deal that will bring him back to Columbia from UCF, according to Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer of CBSSports.com. Black, who is a graduate of Chapman High School in Inman, began his career with USC in 2022 but did not see any action and was redshirted. He transferred to Limestone for two seasons, where he was a standout wide receiver for the Saints. During his time in Gaffney, Black appeared in 21 games, gathering over 1,000 receiving yards with 14 touchdowns. Last season at UCF, Black had 22 receptions for 273 yards and two touchdowns. Black is the fourth receiver USC has taken from the Portal, the 24th free agent signee/commitment overall, and the third from UCF.
