He spent three seasons with the Gamecocks and was a contributor all three seasons. He played in 36 games with one start and had 30 tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss and one sack.

He also has offers from Oregon, Maryland, Wisconsin, Louisville, Florida, Stanford, Michigan, Duke, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Indiana, Miami, Georgia Tech, Auburn, Florida State and others. This past season, Beard had 1845 all-purpose yards and 18 touchdowns.
Clemson OL coach Matt Luke visited OL Sidney Rouleau (6-6 260) of Quebec. Earlier this month, Rouleau named a top 12 of Florida, Michigan, Alabama, Oregon, Tennessee, Miami, Oklahoma, Southern Cal, SMU, Georgia, Ohio State and Florida State.
