Clemson outlasted a field of heavy hitters on Sunday to gain a commitment from SAF Blake Stewart (6-1 175) of College Park, GA. Stewart was among the most heavily recruited safeties in the country during this recruiting season. He narrowed his list to a final four of Clemson, Michigan, Miami and Vanderbilt.
Stewart grew tight with Clemson and safeties coach Mickey Conn over the course of his recruitment. He made at least four visits with the Tigers, including the Elite Retreat in March and the official visit weekend on May 30th.
“Clemson’s message has been steady, development on and off the field,” Stewart said earlier in the month. “Coach Conn’s been the main one in touch. We’ve built a strong relationship. He keeps it real and consistent. They see me fitting in as a versatile safety who can cover and move around based on the scheme. I’ve been to Clemson three times, including my official visit, and the vibe is just different. The culture, the way they invest in their players, it all stands out.”
Last season, Stewart was in on 80 tackles with four tackles for loss, two pass interceptions and eight pass deflections.
Stewart becomes the 21st commitment for the Tigers’ 2026 recruiting class and their third for the safety positions.
