The first three rounds of the Major League Baseball Draft ere held on Sunday night in Atlanta, site of the All-Star Game on Tuesday night, and Coastal Carolina led the state with two players selected. Rounds 4-20 will be held on Monday starting at 11:30 AM.
Catcher Caden Bodine was the 30th overall pick by the Orioles. He was selected in the Competitive Balance Round C, a series of picks after round one made by teams that either had a low revenue or low market size or were awarded a pick as part of a competitive balance lottery. His signing bonus is projected at $3.11 million.
Chanticleer RHP Jacob Morrison was taken in the third round by the Brewers with the 94th overall pick. His signing bonus is projected to be $813 thousand.
Clemson OF Cam Cannarella was the 40th overall pick by the Marlins, a pick that was in the Competitive Balance Round A between the first and second rounds. His signing bonus is projected at $2.28 million.
South Carolina OF Ethan Petry was chosen in the second round with the 49th pick by the Nationals. His pick value is listed at $1.98 million.
Clemson shortstop recruit Dax Kilby was taken by the Yankees with the 39th overall pick.
Clemson transfer commitment OF Ryan Wideman of Western Kentucky, the son of former Clemson basketball player Tom Wideman, was the 99th pick as a third-rounder by the Padres. He is expected to sign.
