STRecruiting Weekend Notebook: Clemson offers three QBs in the ’27 class; Clemson misses on WR target

Clemson on Saturday handed out another quarterback offer, the third by quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator Garrett Riley over the last 24 hours. This one went to Kharim Hughley (6-0 190) of Gainesville, GA, the alma mater of Clemson quarterback great Deshaun Watson. South Carolina offered Hughley at the end of May. He also has offers from Louisville, Cincinnati, Indiana, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Florida, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Auburn and Georgia. Last season Hughley passed for 2543 yards with with 22 touchdowns and two interceptions.

Clemson Friday night offered 2027 QB Trent Seaborn (6-1 220) of Alabaster, AL, the alma mater of Clemson DT Peter Woods and LB Jeremiah Alexander. Seaborn is one of the hottest of the 2027 quarterback recruits nationally, with other offers from South Carolina, Michigan, Georgia, West Virginia, Florida State, Washington, Tennessee, Miami, LSU and Alabama. In his career, Seaborn has passed for 6453 yards , 68 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. He’s completed 68% of his passes.

Riley Friday night also offered QB Teddy Jarrard (6-4 200) of Kennesaw, GA. Last season Jarrard passed for 2783 yards and 34 touchdowns while completing 72% of his pass attempts. He also has offers from Florida State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Missouri, Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio State, Georgia, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Virginia, Auburn, Duke, Miami, Syracuse, Boston College, Illinois and others. He camped at South Carolina in 2024 but the Gamecocks have not yet offered.

Clemson target WR Devin Fitzgerald (6-2 196) of Phoenix announced a commitment to Notre Dame on Saturday night. The son of former NFL Hall of Fame receiver Larry Fitzgerald also had Stanford and UCLA in his final four.

OL Mitchell Smith, who drew some interest from Clemson, committed to Vanderbilt.

Presbyterian catcher/outfielder Jake Randolph is transferring to South Carolina. Last season Randolph started in all 49 games in which e played. He batted. .329 with two home runs and 32 RBIs. He set a PC record with six hits against Longwood in March. He played three seasons with the Blue Hose, and that should leave him one with the Gamecocks.

Former South Carolina RHP Roman Kimball is transferring to UCF.
