WR Travis Johnson (6-3 170) of Chesapeake, VA announced a commitment to Michigan on Friday afternoon. Johnson made official visits to South Carolina, Indiana, Penn State, Michigan and North Carolina. The Gamecocks have one wide receiver commitment in Sequel Patterson, and they have 10 commitments overall. The next USC target scheduled to announce is SAF Jowell Combay on July 9th. The Gamecocks are in his final five along with Tennessee, Wisconsin and Missouri.
QB Landon Duckworth of Jackson, AL, announced late Thursday afternoon that he will announce his commitment on July 18th. He did not divulge plans such as time, location and platform. Duckworth is down to South Carolina and Auburn. He made official visits to each in June, then followed those visits up with unofficial visits to each. Duckworth, of course, was once committed to the Gamecocks. He de-committed 13 months ago and rose up the ranks nationally among quarterback prospects. TCU, Florida, Arkansas, Texas A&M, North Carolina, Florida State and Georgia were some of the other schools to offer him over time. Duckworth has been projected to commit to the Gamecocks for a second time.
SAF Tylan Wilson of Pascagoula, MS has set July 18th for his commitment announcement with Clemson, Arkansas and Texas A&M the finalists. He is being projected to the Aggies.
Clemson target DE Bryce Perry-Wright will use 247Sports for his commitment announcement broadcast on Saturday at 500 PM. Texas A&M is currently viewed as the favorite over Clemson, Texas A&M and Miami.
One-time Clemson target WR Cederian Morgan committed to Alabama earlier in the week.
South Carolina target CB Kosci Barnes signed with a sports agent, Forever Athlete Management.
South Carolina target 7-0 Jones Lay was offered by George Mason and Northeastern.
SS/OF Miles Keough of Phoenix committed to Coastal Carolina.
