South Carolina offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley has been on the trail of OT Kamari Blair (6-6 280) of Clarksville, TN, ever since he offered him in January. Blair made his first visit to campus for a spring practice in April. He returned last weekend for his official visit.
“We covered a lot of stuff a lot deeper than we could in the one day I was here for spring ball,” Blair said. “I loved it. The players. The coaches. Nobody was Bsing me. Everybody was, Hey, it’s not going to be all unicorns and rainbows; you are going to have to work. They were just honest, that’s what I liked about it. Nobody was telling me I’m going to start my freshman year. Nobody was telling me the workouts are easy. They were telling me the whole program is built off of grit and toughness. That’s what I really liked about it. That’s what stood out to me.”
Blair said he and Teasley sat down together and broke down some of his high school film.
“He loved my athleticism, my frame to put on more weight,” Blair said. “He said if I put in the work, especially being an early grad and enrollee, he said if everything goes right, he sees me getting minutes my freshman year. Again, nothing was promised. He said I fit in exactly with what they do.”
Blair also had some private time with head coach Shane Beamer, and he let him know that he believes a perfect fit for his program.
“He was telling me they wanted me. Along with my ability to play football, everybody on the staff enjoys talking to me and enjoys spending time with me,” Blair said. “They see me fitting well in the locker room with the people that they have and the culture of the team.”
Blair visited Wisconsin the week before the USC visit. He was scheduled for a mid-week visit to Florida State, but he said his next visit is now set for this weekend to Ole Miss. Tennessee has been scheduled for June 20th. The question is, does Blair plan to take the other visits, or is he ready to make the call?
“I can’t tell you that right now, I’m sorry,” Blair said. “I’ll let you know in a little bit, though, here in the near future. Probably within a week, I’d say. It could change, though. I don’t know.”
The Gamecocks have two offensive linemen committed at this point for the 2026 class.
